The Centre announced Rs 73,000 crore for consumer spends and investments in a bid to revive the economic cycle. However, its quantum is small in comparison to the size of the component it tries to boost. The LTC tweak and festival advance will nudge government employees to spend Rs 36,000 crore extra this year.
