Hero Motors today introduced its step-thru bike 'Smart' in the Tamil Nadu market today.
'Smart' has been developed in collaboration with the US- based Briggs and Stratton and has a four-stroke 75 cc engine.
Hero Motors has also for the first time introduced a unique marketing strategy, 'Tamil Nadu First,' which will see the company have a distributor servicing the Chennai region, and who in turn will sell to the dealer.

Hero Motors, part of the Rs 9000 crore Hero Group, has a mandate to manufacture products which cost less than Rs 35,000 , with products costing more coming under the ambit of Hero Honda, its joint venture with Honda Motor Company of Japan.
Addressing a press conference, Pankaj Munjal, the managing director of Hero Motors, said that the launch of the Smart in Tamil Nadu signalled the aggressive stance Hero was adopting in penetrating the Tamil Nadu market which had been traditionally the stronghold of TVS.
