Describing BJP's attempts to raise the Bofors issue again as a "political stunt", Singh said BJP was trying to malign the image of Congress president Sonia Gandhi though the court has cleared former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi in the case. |
BJP is raising the issue just before the elections to gain political mileage as they do not have an agenda to contest the polls, he alleged. |
Singh, who also interacted with industrialists in Gujarat during his one-day trip, said, "The BJP government is contesting the elections raising the issues of Bofors case and Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin as they have realised that the 'feel-good factor' has failed to impress the people of the country," Singh said. |
"The BJP has many corrupt leaders and they have no solution to offer for unemployment and farmers' problems," Singh said. |
Criticising BJP's "communal agenda", Singh said, "The coming Lok Sabha elections is very important as it will decide the country's fate. On one side we are contesting the election raising developmental issues and on the other, BJP is dividing the people on communal lines. |
"They have used Gujarat as a 'laboratory'. Everybody knows that," he said. |
Singh said, "The disinvestment policy of the BJP government is not in favour of the country and the public sector. Both the public and the private sectors should contribute to the development of the nation and compete with each other." |
"The farmers in the country are unaware of any feel-good factor created by the BJP government. Where is the feel-good factor when unemployment is rising? The BJP government has failed to do anything for the farmers and the unemployed," Singh said. |
