He was speaking at the Dedication Ceremony of the new IIIT-B campus in Electronics City in Bangalore on Saturday.

Narayana Murthy said: "Universities should be the growing places for great minds where quality education is imparted. Students should take ambitious steps, work accordingly, and should combine the knowledge to improve the quality of life. Stanford for long has fuelled the growth of Silicon Valley, and similar to that I am sure that IIIT-B, being in the heart of Electronic City, will fuel the growth of India's IT industry."

The four-year-old IT institute has moved into its own campus from its earlier rented campus at Information Technology Park near Whitefield in Bangalore.

Detailing about the campus, IIIT-B Director, S Sadagopan said: "The new campus is fully unwired and each of the student has a notebook computer and can work from any part of the campus.

The new campus has enough space to grow with about 75,000 sq feet of built up space.

There is enough physical space (approximately 9 acres) that provides for student dormitory, an executive education hostel and a guest house to accommodate short-term visitors.
