Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Monday said he was hopeful of the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill being passed in the next session of Parliament.
“We are committed to the Act. It is a complicated piece of legislation we are working on. We are confident that in the coming session, it will be passed,” Gandhi said after meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss the farmer protests in Greater Noida.
Accompanied by farmers, Gandhi said the prime minister listened “quite patiently” to what the farmers had to say.
“I am very concerned about what is going on in villages of Noida. The situation is still pretty bad,” he said.
