The Union government's recruitment through Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is set to double in 2010-11 compared to last year, a top official said today.
"In 2009-10 total recruitment was for 10,069, while in the first quarter of 2010-11 financial year alone jobs on offer would 12,000 and in the entire year between 20000 and 25000," SSC chairman N K Raghupathy said here.
SSC recruits on behalf of the central government for Group B non-gazetted and Group C non-technical employees.
Raghupathy said the SSC from this year has begun implementing the Second Administrative Reforms Commission recommendations to reduce the recruitment cycle to a maximum of one year as against two years in the past.
The commission was also moving to single screening for final selection by abolishing the descriptive examination process.
"We have already moved to single screening for combined graduate level test in a single application form for 19 categories of jobs and awaiting government approval for combined HS level examination," the official said.
Raghupathy said he favoured payment of application fees through debit and credit card, but the facility was yet to come into force.
