You were in Nandigram eight months ago. What is the difference then and now?

The company is not there. It is just state terror now.

Are reports of evacuation true ?

The whole action is being controlled by Harmad Vahini, which is supposed to be the hired armed militia of the CPI(M). I have never seen them. But it is well known here.

What is Harmad Vahini?

That means outside invaders. That is, people hired to attack.

Where are you now?

We are outside Calcutta and trying to get inside Nandigram. But CPI(M) cadres are blocking our way as we wait inside a truck.

Don't you think this issue was buried after the CBI probe early this year?

The CBI report was never released to the public. I feel that a CBI probe is required into what is happening now. There is absolutely no information on the killings happening inside Nandigram.

It is certain that at least a hundred people have been killed. People are being looted and homes are being set on fire. The Armad Vahini is evacuating villages and there are slogan shouting "CPI(M) ka ilaka ho gaya, lal sooraj jindabad" and so on.

Who do you think is behind this?

Lakshman Sheth, the MP, is being blamed for playing a key role. But he alone cannot evacuate 25 villages. It is just state terror. There are AK 47s around; it is shocking . I never expected to see this. So many deaths and no one knows. You don't need a Land Acquisition Act if it was so simple for states to evacuate people by force.

This government was so keen on bringing in industrial investment. Don't you think this sends a wrong message?

It is suicidal. I wonder if the government is in control. The state party alone is to be heard and seen.
