Chief minister K Rosaiah releases city’s Master Plan.
The Revised Development Plan (Master Plan) for the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad area, released by chief minister, K Rosaiah, on Tuesday envisages construction of 10 new flyovers, 13 bridges, 7 new road under bridges, 27 commercial strips and 70 commercial roads.
The Master Plan, prepared by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), gives special importance for protection of heritage buildings. Provision is laid down for conversion of Mothersa Maktha in front of Raj Bhavan as a residential zone.
According to an official press release, the highlights of the Master Plan are improved access to all parts of the city, laying of alternative routes, integration of various projects and conservation of environment and heritage. The width of internal colony roads has been retained as 40 feet.
The Master Plan released today is for the core area of the twin cities. The Master Plan pertaining to the remaining areas would be ready by the end of October. The life of the Master Plan, which took 10 years time for preparation, is up to 2030.
The population of Hyderabad is estimated to cross 100 million by 2011 and 184 million by 2031. Keeping this in view, a draft plan is also being prepared. The outer ring road (ORR) project is expected to be completed in all aspects, including the road from Shameerpet to Vijayawada highway by November 2012.
A decision has also been taken for construction of a Logistic Park on 40 acres at Baatasingaram for parking of trucks. It is expected to be completed in two years. Another such park would be constructed on 20 acres at Mangalpally on Sagar Highway.
Proposals were also stated to be ready for construction of a bus terminal with one stop-shop facilities at Miyapur. Besides facility for parking main buses, facilities like accommodation, budget hotels and rest rooms for drivers would be provided in the terminal.
