Transport stir impact
The Kandla port recently affected by Iraq war is now again facing adverse impact of the nationwide transport strike.
More then 30,000 MT of material was being handled daily at this evergreen port in Kutch where around 3,000 workers are eagerly awaiting the strike to end.

Companies like Iffco, GMDC, movement at Mundra-Adani Port, and companies in Kandla Special Economy Zone as well as salt and timber industry are the most affected entities in the region.
The entire economy of Kutch has been paralysed due since Kutch is highly depended on transport industry.
The situation is going bad to worse due to non-clearance of 10 cargo ships. According to Kandla port traffic information, 3 cargo ships of imported timber from Malaysia and South Africa, 2 cargo ships of imported potassium from Russia are already anchored near Tuna port awaiting unloading and have to shell out heavy demurrage payment.
Similarly, around 5 cargo ships booked for export of wheat and rice to Yeman and United Arab Emirate are awaiting loading which are also liable for payment of waitage charge.
Kandla port is suffering a loss of around Rs 10 lakh per day on account of the strike.
