10% voting in first two hours in Rajasthan

Up to 10 per cent polling was recorded in the first two hours of voting, which began at 0700 hrs in 25 parliamentary constituencies in Rajasthan today.     

Prominent candidates contesting today include Congress leader Sachin Pilot from Ajmer Lok Sabha seat, Union Ministers Sis Ram Ola (Jhunjhunu) and Namo Narayan Meena, who is pitted against Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla from Sawai Madhopur-Tonk constituency.     

Also in the fray are Dushyant Singh, son of Vasundhara Raje, who is contesting from Jhalawara-Baran and Chairperson of National Women Commission Girija Vyas (Chittorgarh).     

Hundreds of people were seen in queues at the polling station in the morning hours to avoid heat.     

Electorates in the pink city turned up in good numbers in the first two hours to cast their votes for the Jaipur Lok Sabha seat where BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari, Congress leader Mahesh Joshi and others are in the fray.     

The maximum polling of 14 per cent was recorded at Phulera and Rajgarh in Jaipur rural where the BJP and Congress are locked in straight contest.     

A low turn-out was witnessed at Chomu, which recorded only 8 per cent polling.
