12-15% polling in Punjab till 10 am

Between 12-15 per cent of the total 52.75 lakh electorate exercised their franchise till 10 am today in four Lok Sabha constituencies including the hyper-sensitive seats of Bathinda and Patiala in Punjab.    

Barring minor skirmishes at Sanewala village in Bathinda, polling to the four seats is peaceful, officials said here.    

Despite torrid heat conditions, serpentine queues of voters were seen at the polling booths.    

Prominent among those who cast their votes in the early hours included Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his spouse Surinder Kaur Badal and his predecessor and bete noire Capt Amarinder Singh and his wife Preneet Kaur.    

The rest of the 9 Lok Sabha seats in the state will got to polls in the final phase on May 13.
