Over 29 per cent voters exercised their franchise in 18 parliamentary constituencies spread over 20 districts in Uttar Pradesh till 1 pm.
"Till 1300 hrs, 29.31 per cent votes were cast in 18 parliamentary constituencies. The polling has been peaceful so far," election department officials here said.
The officials said that maximum 34.7 per cent polling was registered in Mathura, whereas only 25 per cent votes were polled in Etah from where the former BJP leader Kalyan Singh is in the fray.
In Ghaziabad from where BJP president Rajnath Singh is in the fray, nearly 28.2 per cent electorate exercised their franchise till 1300 hrs, they said. Over 2.55 crore voters would be exercising their franchise today to decide the fate of 314 candidates in 18 seats spread over 20 districts of the state.
