The four integrated textile parks will be set up under the Scheme for Integrated Textiles Park "" two in Surat and one each in Ahmedabad and Mundhra.

The project is still in the pipeline.

Government is looking for land on the outskirts of all the three cities, said sources from the ministry.

Further, he said the integrated park will comprises processing, weaving, garmenting and spinning.

"However, the spinning segment would be quite less," he added.

Talking about the cost, he said, the project cost varies from city to city.

"The cost of land in each city differs from one another but the construction cost and machinery cost will be more than Rs 500 crore," he said.

The government, for allowing FDI in retail has decided to set up these integrated textile parks to boost competitiveness of the domestic industry.

Further, textile industry could grow to a potential size of $85 billion by the next year whereas, the domestic market is estimated to reach $45 billion and exports to $40 billion, sources informed.

However, it is expected that the proposed textile park would help to achieve the 2007 target as the cost of production would come down after further rationalisation of excise duty structure and removal of infrastructure bottlenecks, he said.
