About 45 per cent voters exercised their franchise till midday today to elect 57 MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh where polling was suspended in a booth after a scuffle broke out between two groups.

Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and two other Congress candidates have already been elected unopposed from the three seats in Tawang district.

Chief Electoral officer Yeshi Tsering said he had received reports of disturbances in one polling station in Ziro-Hapoli constituency where an EVM was damaged.

He was awaiting a detailed report and said that if required, repoll would be ordered.

Polling was adjourned in one booth at Hari in the constituency after a scuffle between some persons and an EVM damaged, officials said.

The scuffle took place after an election agent of Trinamool Congress candidate Nani Ribia objected to display of a poster inside the booth.

Shoot at sight orders have been issued against booth-capturing or damaging EVMs in Papumpare district and in the state capital.
