Polling for the 221-member Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (bmc) ended yesterday on a peaceful note with an estimated 45 per cent voters casting their franchise.
The polling started on a low key with only 12 per cent voters exercising their right to vote till 1200 hours.
However, the polling picked up later, according to sources in the special election cell set up by BMC here.

No untoward incident was reported during the day with city police assisted by six companies of rapid action force and 70 platoons of state reserve police force.
Stray incidents of bogus voting were recorded in antop hill, samata nagar, dindoshi and andheri areas of the megapolis, police said. Over 76.87 lakh voters, including 32.89 lakh women, were eligible to exercise their franchise. Altogether, 8009 polling booths were set up at 1,547 places. A total of 2732 candidates, including 707 women, were in the fray, of which 600 contested from 73 wards reserved for women.
