The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGB), constituted by the Union government, has identified nine cities in Orissa for supply of piped natural gas (PNG).These cities are Bhadrakh, Rourkela, Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Anandpur, Kamakshyanagar, Balasore and Baripada.
The Orissa government has requested the Centre for supply of piped natural gas to various private and industrial locations in the state. In the first phase, these nine cities have been picked up, said state food, civil supplies and consumer welfare minister, Sarada Prasad Nayak in the state assembly today.
The minister said, the state government doesn’t have any plan to supply domestic cooking gas through pipeline.
The Union government is going to start Piped Natural Gas (PNG) scheme in thirty cities across the country. These cities include Mumbai, Bhadodara, Agra, Kanpur, Kakinata, Hyderabad, Pune, Faridabad, Baranasi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai, Jhansi, Indore, Delhi, Vijaywada, Lucknow, Visakhapatanam, Nalgonda, Solapur, Thane, Patna, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bareli, Allahabad, Gwalior, Rajkot and Kota.
