The Karnataka government is considering creation of an aerospace cluster near the upcoming international airport at Devenahalli.

State commissioner for industrial development, Raj Kumar Khatri, said that major players in the aviation industry including some US firms had evinced interest in this regard.

"We had high-level discussions about the proposed cluster three days back," he said while addressing a roadshow on 'Invest Karnataka and The Partnership Summit 2007' here on Thursday.

Khatri said that investment flows into Karnataka were growing at a rate of 20 per cent per annum. In the past one year, projects worth Rs 75,000 crore were approved.

Stating that the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) partnership summit was being held in Bangalore after a gap of five years, he said the state government was bent upon making it a much larger event this time.

CII Andhra Pradesh chairman, G Vivekanand, said Karnataka was driving domestic growth and had an enduring tradition of tapping technology to trace a steady growth curve across diverse sectors. The three-day CII partnership summit would be held in Bangalore from January 17.
