Ahmedabad clocks second highest diamonds sale

Ahmedabad has accounted for the second highest sale of diamonds in the country with a growth rate of 30 per cent behind Kolkata with a 31 per cent sales growth, said Samit Bhatta, national sales and marketing manager, Diamond Trading Company (DTC).

He was in Ahmedabad to announced the Diamond Season awards on occasion of the 'Diamond Awards Night- 2005' on Tuesday.

"This time we received a great response and all the prominent diamond jewellery stores in Ahmedabad along with their sales consultants joined forces to create a 'diamond fever' across the city to enable consumers have the widest choice in diamond jewellery at the most affordable prices," said Bhatta.

Diamond Season is the biggest diamond jewellery sales promotion activity in the country and the participating stores are judged for merits in stocking, window display, customer service, showroom ambiance and overall shopping experience.

La Creations and Ishwarlal Harjiwandas Jewellers were the join winners of the best showroom award, followed by Tanishq, Panchratna Jewellers and Arvindbhai Jewellers on the second place and Orra, Manubhai Zaveri and Arvindbhai Bacherdas on the third place. Former Miss World and Bollywood actor Diana Hayden gave away the certificates.

Celebrating the diamond season all participating outlets at retailing level took on a festive look and each one tried to outdo their counterparts in a bid to win the various trade contests that are being held to give an impetus to sale of Diamond Jewellery this season.

Three kinds of awards were being given away- Best Salesperson of the Day, Best showrooms of the Diamond Season and super salesperson of the Diamond Season, said a DTC press statement.
