Air India team in Mangalore to assist survivors

Air India today said it will be positioning a team of officials, including lawyers in Mangalore, to assist the survivors and relatives of the victims of its plane crash there in their compensation claims.

Sunil Kishen, executive director (southern region) will be coordinating the activities, a release said here.

The helpline numbers in Mangalore are: 0824 – 2452306, 0824 – 2452307 and 0824 – 2452308.

Air India has already published an advertisement in all leading dailies giving details of the offices to be contacted, application to be download and submission, for the interim claim.

The airline has announced an interim compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of those aged above 12 killed in the crash at Bajpe airport and Rs five lakh for those below that age pending final settlement of insurance claims.

The Mangalore-bound Boeing 737-800 flight from Dubai crashed after the pilot overshot the runway at the airport, killing all but eight of the 166 people on board, on Saturday last.
