Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday unveiled the state development agenda for 2015-16.

The agenda spans nine departments — energy, industry, finance, agriculture, human resources development, medical, social, rural development and urban development. It would serve as a policy framework guide to officials.

Now, milestones for each department would be attuned to the development agenda, so that quarterly targets could be achieved and assessed.

Speaking on the occasion, Yadav said in the first two years of his government, the focus was on fulfilling pre-poll promises.

He had come to power in March 2012 after defeating the Mayawati government.

The chief minister said his government had now undertaken development projects never before done in Uttar Pradesh, such as the project to connect all the 75 district headquarters with four-lane roads and constructing bridges in record time.

The state government was upgrading energy infrastructure and working towards mass adoption of solar energy to alleviate challenges faced on the electricity front, he said.

Recently, a 10-megawatt solar power unit went upstream in the impoverished Bundelkhand region. More such units are likely to be connected to the grid, he said. Replying to a question on corruption, Yadav said all governments faced the question of minimum and maximum tolerance level of public corruption. “I firmly believe more the use of technology, less are the chances of corruption. For example, we are providing pension to beneficiaries through bank accounts, so there is no human intervention and thus less instances of corruption,” he said.
