Piqued at her ally Congress forming board in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation with the support of the Left Front, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee today said that the success of an alliance depended on trust.
"Our party extended unconditional support to the Manmohan Singh government for stability and greater interest of the country. We can't form a government in Delhi. We know our limitation," she told Bengali news channel 'Star Ananda'.
But, in West Bengal Trinamool Congress was the bigger force which could fight the CPI-M, she said. "If it is accepted then there will be no problem."
Banerjee said that in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation her party would sit in the opposition because it could not work with the CPI-M. "We have ideological difference with the CPI-M and we cannot compromise on that."
On next month's by-election to 10 assembly seats, the TC chief said that her party could have contested all of them.
Of the 10 seats, TC had won five in the last assembly elections while Congress had bagged two. There was no problem on these seven seats, she said. The Trinamool Congress would give the Kalchini seat to Congress and contest the remaining two seats, Rajgunj and Belgachia East, she said.
