Efforts of the government to diffuse the tensions in the Jammu and Kashmir took a nose dive today as the Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS) today refused to sit for talks with the government-appointed committee for the fourth round of talks on Tuesday.
SASS gave the reason for police excess for declining to come to sit across the table for talks with government representatives. The Samiti today demanded that the Inspector General of Police and the newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police of the Jammu region have to be removed before the fourth round can commence.
The Samiti has also extended their bandh in Jammu till Sunday and renewed its threat saying the agitation will go on till the land issue is settled in their favour. Meanwhile, after violent protests on Monday curfew has been reimposed in the Kathua region in Jammu.
