The area near Hospital Chowk was contaminated when ammonia gas carrying tanker of V K Patel Translines, turned turtle while on its way from Vadodara to Sikka. |

The leak was not as hazardous as last time, as the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) fire-fighting team controlling the situation on war-footing basis. |

Mor than 30 personnel from RMC's fire-fighting arm brought the sitaution under control in 3 hours. They sprayed 10,000 litres of water on the spot. Howe ver, no casualty was reported. The tanker was on routed on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway. |

The cargo being carried in the tanker was of Gujarat State Fertilizers Corporation (GSFC), said Bhupendra Patel, executive of V K Patel Translines. |

Police commissioner K Nityanandan with his team along with district collector Mona Khandhar and municipal commissioner Mukeshkumar rushed to the spot. |

"The district administration along with affiliated offices and agencies is working out a solution on immediate basis for making the bye-pass ready for commuting of such hazardous cargo," said Khandhar. |
