Amritsar, Anandpur Sahib to be linked by rail

Two important shrines for Sikhs--Amritsar and Anandpur Sahib""are likely to get connected by rail link. In the reply to the starred query put by Punjab BJP unit Chief and Hoshiarpur MP Avinash Rai Khanna, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said this in Parliament.

He said the railway ministry has taken first step in the process and asked for survey to lay new railway track between Jejo (Hoshiarpur) to Garhshakar. This 35 km stretch of the railway link will enable the tourist smooth flow between the two cities in the state. The Hoshiarpur MP had asked the railway ministry to look at the rail link as a great prospect of adding revenue to the exchequer.
