Andhra Pradesh ministers from the Telangana region today deferred their plan to meet the Congress high command to press for formation of separate Telangana till May. They took the decision as Sonia Gandhi is busy with Assembly elections in five states, state Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy told reporters in Hyderabad.
The ministers from the Telangana region had earlier sought an appointment with Gandhi to present their case on the separate statehood issue.
Earlier, several Congress MLAs and MLCs from Telangana had camped in Delhi but could not meet her. The Telangana Congress MLAs and MLCs have been staying away from the ongoing Budget session in Hyderabad as a mark of protest.
In Delhi, Congress MPs were toying with the idea of staying away from voting during the Union Budget 2011-12, but no unanimity could emerge on this.
The MPs are shaken by the violence that occurred during the so-called ‘Million March’ yesterday where two MPs were manhandled by the crowd which charged them with not doing enough for the Telangana cause.
