The anti-Posco activists in three panchayats of Dhinkia, Nuagaon and Gadkujang, where Posco proposed to set up its mega steel plant, have hailed the verdict of the Orissa High Court setting aside the recommendation made by the Orissa government for grant of prospecting license in favour of the South Korean steel major.

Sisir Mohapatra, the sarpanch of Dhinkia village said, “The villagers of Dhinkia and Gobindpur who have been affected by the Posco project are happy and their joy will be doubled when this project would be shifted from this area.”

"With the High Court rejecting the state government's recommendation for prospecting license, Posco India cannot mine in Khandadhar and in the absence of mining, there is no question of setting up of the captive port at Jatadhari Muhan by the company.

The activists of the Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) would not allow the company authorities and officials of Posco India to acquire land at Dhinkia”, said Abhaya Sahoo, chairman of PPSS, the organization spearheading the anti-Posco movement in the state.
