AP, Gujarat get first tranche of relief fund

The Centre has released Rs 232.34 crore as the first instalment of its share of Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) to Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
 
The first instalment of the Centre's share of the CRF has not yet been released to the other flood-affected states "" Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh "" as utilisation certificates for earlier releases had not yet been furnished, a government release said.
 
Andhra Pradesh has received Rs 135.48 crore and Gujarat Rs 96.86 crore.
 
The second instalment to Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat is proposed to be released in advance to facilitate relief operations.
 
The release also added that the first instalment to Maharashtra was proposed to be released immediately.
 
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to visit Gujarat and Maharashtra on August 10 to take stock of the situation.
 
The government has set up a control room in the Ministry of Home Affairs to coordinate the logistic support required by affected states.
