The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday cancelled the bail of senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, one of the accused in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) case, and asked her to surrender before the CBI special court before January 6.
Srilakshmi was arrested on November 28 last year in the ‘illegal’ iron ore mining case involving Obulapuram Mining Company owned by former Karnataka minister, Gali Janardhana Reddy. On December 2, the special CBI court here had granted a conditional bail to her.
However, the CBI approached the high court seeking cancellation of her bail orders. It argued there was a chance of the accused tampering with evidence as Srilakshmi was an IAS officer and her husband an IPS officer. After hearing the arguments of the counsels of both the CBI and Srilakshmi, the apex court in the state cancelled the bail orders.
