The Andhra Pradesh government proposes to introduce a separate promotional agency, which will work as a single window clearance body for facilitating all investments into the state.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating Cyber Pearl, a new multi-storied IT park in Madhapur, chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said, "The present government is committed to help developers in improving the infrastructure capabilities in the state, so that more companies can set up their operations here. In this regard, the government proposes to introduce a single window clearance system, with emphasis on infrastructure, to speed up various procedures."

Reddy also said that his government was keen on attracting investments in IT and ITES. "Even though the state accounted for software exports worth $1.1 billion in the last fiscal, it only ranks fifth in the country. The present government aims at providing all the necessary help required for the state to move up the value chain," he said.

According to him, the target was to be at least second from the present fifth position in the next three years.

"We have also identified around 30 million sq ft which would be given to reputed national and global developers to build good infrastructure capabilities in the state," he said.

He urged Singapore companies to boost the semi-conductor manufacturing in the state by setting up a FAB foundry here.

Cyber Pearl will have complete facilities that IT, ITES and BPO centres require, according to A Ramakrishna, deputy managing director of L&T Infocity Limited. Cyber Pearl is built in association with Singapore-based business space provider Ascendas Pte Limited.

The first phase of Cyber Pearl was constructed at a cost of Rs 130 crore and according to Ramakrishna the work on the second phase was underway and the cost of this project is expected to be around Rs 120 crore.

Cyber Pearl is Ascendas' first venture in Hyderabad and the third in India following the International Tech Park in Bangalore and the Gurgaon Tech Park in Haryana.
