AP's Vision 2020 goals attainable: Schwab

Klaus Schwab, executive chairman and founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), today observed that the Vision 2020 goals set by the state government were attainable because of the reform initiatives that have been taken up.

Andhra Pradesh would be a developed state by 2020 and a model for other states in India and the developing countries, Schwab said.

He said Andhra Pradesh was a model state that was at the take-off stage. Several investors "� foreign and Indian "� were interested in investing in the state. "In the initial stages, there would be constraints, but once these were overcome, the growth would take place at a fast pace. AP had been able to overcome such constraints, he said.

The WEF president was highly impressed by the development of the state, especially the programme made with respect to women empowerment, self-help groups, population control, education, infrastructure and governance.

Naidu said the achievements of the state and Hyderabad were a product of good governance.He said his goal was to provide better living conditions to all the citizens.
