About 100,600 acre has been identified for distribution among 69,500 poor beneficiaries in 22 districts in the state in the fifth phase of land distribution scheme, which will be launched at Shadnagar in Mahabubnagar district) on April 14.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah directed the officials to prepare a plan to help the poor, who have been provided lands, in making them cultivable for sustainable development. He wanted the banks to extend loans to them for cultivation.
Each family is eligible for 2.5 acre wet land or 5 acre dry land (including the land originally held by the family). The government had so far distributed 603,000 acre to over 433,000 landless beneficiaries. It would earmark 50 per cent of total land to be distributed for SC/ST beneficiaries.
Rosaiah asked the officials to ensure that lands were registered only in the names of women. The list of beneficiaries would be hosted online prior to distribution. Seven IAS officers would supervise the land distribution programme, according to a release.
