In order to give a boost to agribusiness and food processing industry in India, the Andhra Pradesh government along with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is jointly organising a two-day seminar on agribusiness and food processing in Hyderabad.
The two-day international seminar-cum-exhibition, the second edition of 'Food 360' which will begin from November 5, will focus on innovation and technology in agriculture, agribusiness and food processing sector.
"In view of the rising input costs and shortage of farm labour, innovative technologies will play a key role in agribusiness to raise productivity and reduce production cost by ensuring higher income for farmers and lower prices for consumers at the same time," S Sivakumar, group head (agribusiness division), ITC Limited, said.
The 'Food 360' seminar will identify some of the challenges in the food and agriculture value chain and explore innovative solutions for the farmers leveraging technology solutions to address the issue, he said. Also, it will focus on how a small farmer can benefit by do bio-farming, remote sensing and weather forecasting.
It will address issues such as climate control technologies, role of packaging in supply chain efficiencies, low cost storage systems and training manpower.
"The seminar will have sessions on various technology to raise farm productivity, technology in supply chain management, food processing, packaging and marketing by showcasing the potential for developing agribusiness and food processing industry in India by bringing global linkages," J A Chowdary, committee member of FICCI Food 360, said.
More than 500 representatives from agriculture and food processing industries are expected to participate in the event.
