The AP stall at the three-day tradeshow which begins in Bangalore today will explain the facilities at ICICI Knowledge Park and SP Biotech Park in the Genome Valley.
The biotechnology (BT) initiatives of the Andhra Pradesh government will be presented at the three-day Bangalore Bio 2003, the biotech tradeshow, to be held at Palace grounds in Bangalore from tomorrow. The state biotech department is putting up a big stall at the Bangalore Bio to showcase its Genome Valley project.
The delegates to the tradeshow will also have an opportunity to find out the facilities available at ICICI Knowledge Park, a unique science park in the country set up on the outskirts of Hyderabad with a mission to create a world-class centre for business-driven research.

In addition to this, APIDC Venture Capital Limited has made arrangements to make its presence felt at the show by providing details about the biotech venture fund that it has initiated.
B P Acharya, the secretary (industries, commerce and biotechnology) of the state government, hoped that Genome Valley project would be one of the major attractions at the Bangalore Bio.
To be developed over a 600-sq km area on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the Genome Valley project will provide world-class and investor-friendly environment to attract major corporates to set up their biotech R & D and manufacturing units.
Genome Valley project was unveiled about two years back as part of Biotechnology Policy announced by the Andhra Pradesh Government. As part of the Genome Valley, a biotech park under public-private partnership model with Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park Private Limited as a developer, is under development in 144 acres in the first phase. Of the total plotted area of 85 acres in the first phase, about 60 per cent has been booked by 12 companies so far.
ICICI Knowledge Park is also part of Genome Valley area and is located near the Biotech Park, on a 200-acre campus. The first phase of the Knowledge Park consisting of 10 laboratory modules, each of around 3,000 sft area is fully booked.
The second phase consisting of 16 laboratory modules each of 1600 sft and expandable to 3400/5000 sft was inaugurated on November 24, 2002 and 60 per cent of the laboratory units are blocked.
