The state government has finally yielded to a wave of protests across the state against its recent order of ban on recruitment for permanent posts of non-important cadre in Group-III, Group-IV and Class-IV categories, leaving thus scope for recruitment on contract basis only.
The chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu today announced in Visakhapatnam the withdrawal of the controversial GO MS No. 94. For the past one week there had been a spate of protests, demonstrations by various student unions and political organisations demanding withdrawal of the order.
The order was issued on March 28. The chief minister said the government had taken note of the public sentiment and withdrew the order to allay misconceptions about the government. The order earned the government much public indignation and led to apprehensions that the government was merely following the diktats of the World Bank.
Particularly, the communist parties raised the bogey of the World Bank, while the other political parties criticised the government for non-filling of thousands of vacancies in various departments.
