Apex court to review oil firms' sale ruling

 Though the Jessop and Titagarh cases do not involve the question of whether disinvestment requires parliamentary approval and instead deal with issues like strategic sector sales and tenders, Chief Justice VN Khare told Attorney-General Soli Sorabjee that parliamentary sanction would be the main issue considered by the court in these cases.

 The HPCL scrip closed 2.31 per cent higher at Rs 344.75, after hitting an intra-day high of Rs 351.20, and with traded volumes of 12.31 lakh shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

 BPCL hit a high of Rs 363.80 before closing 0.66 per cent higher at Rs 358.20. More than 2.64 lakh shares were traded on the BSE.
