APTransco takes up Rs 160-crore substation

The substation is expected to enhance the quality and ensure reliable power supply to the power starved Telangana region.
 

The new substation will be the second biggest of its kind in the Telangana region. A 400 kv substation already exists at Mamidpally in Ranga Reddy district, an APTransco press release said here today.
 

The minister for energy, K Subbarayudu, will lay the foundation stone for the substation at Ditchpally tomorrow.
 

The release quoting the energy minister Subbarayudu, who reviewed the works of APTransco, said that the corporation was giving top priority to improving the quality of power supply in the Telangana region.
 

An amount of Rs 7,362.14 crore had been spent during the last eight years in the region as against Rs 1,836.47 crore and Rs 1,451.55 crore spent in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions respectively.
 

The minister also informed that the state government had finalised an action plan to commission three more 400 kv substations at Nellore, Chittoor and Mahbubnagar districts, and related 400/220 kv lines and bay extension at a cost of around Rs 180 crore.
