Arjun Singh’s daughter today rebelled against the Congress and filed nomination as an independent in Madhya Pradesh. But the Union minister said he would campaign against her though he was unhappy over the denial of tickets to his kin.
“If I say I am not unhappy, then it will not be true,” Singh said in New Delhi when asked whether he was not hurt over the denial of nominations to his daughter Beena from Satna and son Ajeya from Sidhi.
Beena today filed her nomination papers as an independent candidate from Sidhi constituency.
The Congress high command has given the Sidhi seat to Indirajeet Patel while Satna went to Sudhir Singh Tomar.
Singh, however, said “I will campaign for Congress nominee in both Satna and Sidhi.” The allocation of tickets was the prerogative of the party leadership, he added.
The Congress downplayed the unhappiness expressed by Singh, with senior leader Kapil Sibal saying “he has said being a father he is disappointed, what is wrong in it.”
Meanwhile, Ajey Singh dubbed his sister's decision as “wrong”.
