The army website, www.indianarmy.nic.in, is being converted into a comprehensive portal, which will soon provide information on vacancies in the army and how to apply, information on various issues and also an e-homage section, where relatives of martyrs can light an e-candle along side the picture of the martyr even as a prayer is being run by the website. |
"The army website is at present in the middle of a major overhaul. From being just a website where information was available and which was being updated once a week, the website will soon become a dynamic portal," said Brigadier R S Sujlana, Army Liaison Cell, Army headquarters. |
Brigadier Sujlana said the website will soon be updated on a daily basis and persons interested in joining the Indian army will even be able to download forms from the website. |
"At present, most of the queries are regarding jobs and although we direct them to the places where they can get forms and the person they must meet, it will be much easier if the forms can be downloaded from the website itself," he said. |
The Brigadier said the website will have an e-homage section. |
"The idea struck us when one person sent us an e-mail, asking where the memorial of his father was located. The martyr had died in the 1962 war. We are adding to the list on a daily basis and soon the e-homage section will be a comprehensive one," he said. |
