Brigadier P M Rath, deputy director-general (recruiting) of Bihar-Jharkhand zone made this revelation at a press conference here prior to recruitment rally of army personnel between September 3 and 12.He said according to their information the touts take between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh in Jharkhand and between Rs 2.5 and Rs 3 lakh in Bihar.
Brig.Rath said that the quantum of business the racketeers made was of the order of Rs 25 crore annually. In Bihar-Jharkhand zone 8 to 10 touts were identified so far and the army was taking necessary steps with the help of police and intelligence agencies to curb the racket. "As the process of collecting evidence is on, I can't reveal names right now as the matter is sub judice," the Brigadier said.

The Brigadier further said that touts has devised ingenious ways of identifying their candidates. These codes included visible symbols such as tattoo, cloth tied in a particular way or having a mark, a tonsure head or even a telephone number scribbled on a submitted certificate.
He also cautioned aspirants to keep a way from touts and concentrate on mental and physical fitness and the selection will be strictly on merit.
