A team of artistes and political leaders today visited Netai village in strife-torn Lalgarh. They spoek to villagers, who are yet to recover from the trauma of the firing that left eight dead and several injured on January 7. Painter Suvaprasanna and theatre personality Bratya Basu were among those who visited. Trinamool Congress leaders Partha Chatterjee, accompanied by Trinamool Congress leader Subhendu Adhikary, MP, also visited the village and the house from where the firing took place.

Earlier, a Pradesh Congress team, headed by PCC president Manas Bhuniya, visited the village and demanded a CBI inquiry into the firing. “Nothing short of a CBI inquiry will be acceptable,” Bhuniya said alleging that a CID probe would not be able to unravel the truth. Bhuniya said he would submit a report to the prime minister with copies to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
