It would be a first such expo in entire North Eastern region and more than 300 participants would be taking part in this expo. An agricultural producers’ group from Thailand will also be participating in the expo, which would be a five-days long affair.
Assam agriculture minister Nilamoni Sen Deka said: “Our state is making rapid strides in the field of agriculture and horticulture. Our achievements in this field have been acknowledged by the Centre. We have been awarded the ‘Krishi Karma’ award by the Centre. This expo will try to make farming more popular among the people and help them learn new things.”
Besides stalls displaying products, Deka said there would be seminars on various issues pertaining to agriculture, horticulture, food-processing, technology, etc. to enlighten farmers. Various self-help groups, farmers’ associations, people related to nursery business, horticulture product growers, etc. will be taking part in the expo.
