The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress continued their game of political one-upmanship over Sabarmati Express mishap. The attack on the Union railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has just added fuel to the fire.

Close on the heels of Congress circulating copies of a CD that showed Lalu Prasad Yadav's car glasses being broken, the BJP has begun circulating a CD. The new one shows unbroken rear glass of the car used by the Yadav when he visited the SSG hospital at Vadodara.

The CD displays Yadav leaving from the hospital campus, from various angles. It was learnt that the recorded version was created by BJP with the help of rushes collected from cameramen of various news channels.

"The CD shows that the car used by Yadav was not damaged till he left SSG Hospital. In fact, Yadav should be asked why he used a private vehicle instead of using the Indian Railway's vehicle. The recordings also prove that the people who were around Yadav's car were Congress workers and not BJP workers," said Shabdasharan Brahmbhatt, Vadodara city president for BJP.

After BJP general secretary Arun Jaitely displayed recordings of Yadav's visit for media in Delhi on Sunday evening, the local BJP network in the state has also started distributing the CD to the local media.

Meanwhile, a number of banners have appeared in Vadodara blaming Yadav and local Congress leaders for their nexus.

However, Brahmbhatt denied BJP's role in putting banners and said, "BJP is not involved in putting anonymous banners. But I want to congratulate the people or organisation that has done it. I also accept that gathered crowd had shouted slogans against Yadav but one cannot blame one party for igniting them."

Meanwhile, the goods train that was involved in the mishap that left 17 passengers of the Sabarmati Express dead, has been brought to Vadodara for examination.

The commissioner for safety for Western Railways, Prashant Kumar is probing the reasons behind the accident. The goods train was stationary at Samlaya station when the Sabarmati Express rammed into it.
