The government has appointed B C Khatua as the new chairman of Forward Markets Commission (FMC), the regulator of futures trading in commodity exchanges.The appointment of Khatua, a 1976 bath IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre, was made after former FMC chairman S Sundareshan joined the petroleum ministry as additional secretary, official sources said.Khatua, currently working as Sales Tax Commissioner in Maharashtra, is likely to take charge on May 28, the sources said adding the 'office order' for his appointment was issued towards the end of April.Currently, Kewal Ram, a senior member of FMC, is officiating as chairman of the commodity markets regulatory body.
