A proposal directing district-level banks to charge a uniform interest rate from co-operative credit societies seeking loans is under the active consideration of the Maharashtra government.
Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh revealed this today following a meeting with the chairman of the Apex Urban Cooperative Bank (Maharashtra and Goa) Omprakash Devda, co-operation secretary Rajiv Aggarwal and other senior officials convened at the Sahyadri guest house at Malabar Hill to resolve the consistent problems faced by co-operative banks, urban co-operative banks and co-operative societies.
