West Bengal government is likely to formally announce the state's industry policy in the upcoming investors' meet in Haldia.

“We are trying to formally unveil state's industry policy during Bengal Leads in Haldia,” West Bengal Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee said.

West Bengal government's second edition of the annual industrial summit - Bengal Leads - is scheduled to take place on January 15-17.

Senior Trinamool Congress MP, Saugata Roy, who was appointed as advisor to state industry department by chief minister Mamata Banerjee, had written to various industry chambers seeking their views in the matter.

However, Roy's letter clearly mentioned the state government's publicly announced policy of no government intervention in land acquisition. The industry bodies were asked to give suggestions keeping these limitations in mind.

Roy recently submitted a report on this to chief minister Mamata Banerjee with recommendations from various business chambers and city-industrialists.

Banerjee then asked industry department to frame state's industrial policy on the basis of Roy's report.
