Bengal Greenfield Housing mulls bus terminus in Rajarhat

Bengal Greenfield Housing Development Company limited (BGHDCL) , a joint sector company with West Bengal Housing Board, is likely to construct a bus terminus spread over an area of three acres and another commercial complex over an area of one acre in Rajarhat New township area.
 
The project is likely to commence by the end of next month, provided the land allotment is done soon, informed Subhabrata Basu, managing director, BGHDCL.
 
The bus terminus would provide space for 70-80 buses and the commercial complex is likely to be 6-8 storey high, he added.
 
Presently, BGHDCL has completed nearly 20 per cent of its building complex, 'Greenfield Heights' at New town, Rajarhat. The land was allotted last April at the rate of Rs 1.1 lakh per cottah.
 
It is going to be completed by 2006 end and the delivery of the flats shall be completed by March 2007, assured Basu.The total cost of the project is around Rs 70 crore, he informed.
 
The total number of flats will be 550 out of which 272 will be allotted for the high income group (HIG), 216 for the middle and 62 for the lower income group.
 
The price set for the HIG flats is in the range of Rs 17-35 lakh whereas the average price of the MIG flats shall be Rs 7.8 lakh with Rs 2.5 lakh for LIG flats.
 
The promoters have already invested Rs 3 crore and owing to the 100 per cent booking of HIG flats BGHDCL has not yet used the Rs 5 crore loan taken from HDFC bank, informed Basu.
 
Speaking at foundation laying ceremony, Gautam Deb, state minister for housing and public health engineering said that the upcoming township in Rajarhat will see an overall investment of around Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 crore, out of which nearly Rs 5000 crore would be required for building the infrastructure of the region.
 
"This township will provide accommodation for more than 20 lakh people within the next 5-7 years," said Deb.
 
Meanwhile a Hyderabad based private company will shortly begin the construction of a 50 km stretch of road using the latest German technology, 'Raptech' in the New township area at Rajarhat.The total cost of the project will be around Rs 30 crore.
 
"This technology shall enable rapid completion of road construction and the company has claimed that it would complete the 50 km stretch before June, 2005', informed Gautam Deb.
 
The technology shall remain in its best condition for the next twenty years, he informed.
