Tax revenue collected by the West Bengal government in the first half of the 2012-13 fiscal has risen by 36 per cent over the previous corresponding period. "Revenue collection in the April-September period this year was Rs 14,176 crore, a rise of 36 per cent over the corresponding period last year. Last year, the figure was Rs 10,428 crore," state finance minister Amit Mitra said here on Monday.
Addressing the AGM of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, Mitra said that the target for the full year was 25 per cent over 2011-12.
Mitra said he was confident of meeting the tax revenue target of Rs 31,000 crore for the full year.
The government had collected Rs 25,000 crore revenue from taxes during 2011-12.
Mitra said e-governance and e-tendering had contributed a lot to generating higher revenue for the state.
