Bengali movie awards in United States

To popularize Bengali commercial films across the globe Kala, Music & Play (KPM), a US-based event production and management company, is going to hold the first International Indo-Bangla Kala, Music Awards (IIBKMA).

The prestigious award ceremony will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Centre at New York on April 17, 2004. Commercial Bangla films from Kolkata as well as Dhaka are eligible for the awards.

There are six basic categories of the award for both the Bengali film industry of Kolkata and Dhaka : Best Movies, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Lifetime Achievement Award and Most Popular Parallel Movie.

The Lifetime Achievement Award for Kolkata's Bengali film industry has further categories like - Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for Direction; Uttam Kumar Lifetime Achievement Award for Acting.
