As many as 1,230 medical shops, including retailers and dealers, in Bhopal and nearby areas will shut shop on June 3 to support the anti-reservation move launched by the Junior Doctors Association.

Medical traders have decided to support the ongoing strike and agitation of medicos in a phased manner. The strike will enter its 17th day tomorrow.

Outdoor patient departments of all private hospitals and nursing homes remained closed for two hours from 8-10 am today.

"We had decided to join the strike on 31 May by closing our enterprises but we will join the medicos on 3rd June. All our shops and dealers outlet will remain close. We will support the doctors across the state wherever their strike will take place," an office bearer of Madhya Pradesh Dawa Vikreta Sangh told Business Standard.

He also said, "We may intensify the strike by asking our all 16700 shops to remain close for indefinite period."

Further, Bhopal Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Madhya Pradesh Vyapari Sangh and other small traders' associations have also decided to join the medicos strike by observing a daylong bandh on June 3.

"We organised a meeting in this regard and we have decided to support the doctors in their move," a member of Bhopal Chambers of Commerce and Industry said.
