Minister for large and medium industries Murugesh Nirani inaugurated the bio-diesel park which has been set up at the the Karnataka State Women's University campus in Bijapur.
The unit was set up by the Karnataka State Bio-Diesel Task Force and forest department. Nearly 30 acres of land has been identified for planting the saplings. The barren land in the district will covered with greenery by establishing this park in this region. The government sanctioned a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the park.
This unit will work as a bio-diesel production and information centre where research activities will be conducted in the future. The varsity aims to conduct research on bio-diesel production and utilisation issues at this unit. This centre will help varsity students to conduct higher research in this field, said Bali.
The unit will also work as bio-diesel production incubator to help farmers who wish to take part in such activities, with proper information. The waste matter of this bio-diesel unit will be utilised as wormy compost and organic farming. Bijapur has been one of the four parks which will be established at various places of the state.
